Azul has taken delivery of the first of its long haul fleet – an Airbus A330 today.
America Azul represents the first of the Azul long haul fleet, initially to be made up of six Airbus A330s, with A350s to follow.
The delivery is a bit early, as Azul is not due to ramp up A330 long haul services until December. This is due to aircraft reconfiguration as well as crew familiarisation with the type of aircraft – bear in mind that Azul has only operating Embraer E-Jets and ATR Turboprops so far.
Plan call for the aircraft to operate from Viracopos-Campinas International airport to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and New York as the fleet size increases
The Airbus A350s will arrive in 2017 if all goes to plan.
I’m very interested to see what Azul is planning for the interiors of these planes. Providing they get the right product in, and get the right feeds in both directions, this could finally provide a challenge to the existing incumbents on these routes…
