The German flag carrier currently operates two flights a day between Frankfurt and New York, with one service being operated by an Airbus A380 and the other using a Boeing 747-400.
The A380 will continue to operate the LH400/LH401 rotation, whilst the Boeing 747-8i will operate the LH404/LH405 rotation.
The swap will be commencing on 15th July, and flights have been switched in the Lufthansa booking system.
If you have existing bookings on LH404/LH405 rotation, it could be an idea to check your seats to see what’s shifted around.

Is LH retiring one of its 747 planes?

I think they’re swapping it over and sending a 747-400 to Mumbai instead due to gate space issues
