- Wrapping up the DayTrip – To catch them is my real quest, to train them is my cause….
So lets wrap up a day of interesting travel. Because that’s why I do this thing – to travel and experience new things.
National Express did what it said on the tin – got me to Heathrow Airport on time, and at stupid o’clock. Nothing to moan about apart from some slightly dicing driving in a thunderstorm…
Heathrow Airport was its usual self – with early morning security being a breeze compared with the rest of the day. Although why they put a short haul service in the back end of Terminal 5 is still beyond me (especially when the main terminal is pretty much designed for short haul traffic)
The British Airways First Class Lounge was a great place to relax and get breakfast. Almost worthwhile stopping here every trip…
British Airways itself delivered a pretty good service both ways, with a competent service on the outbound service, and a near enough excellent service on the way back. Whilst I wouldn’t default to paying £200 for a Club Europe Ticket (and I’m less minded to with the new seats that are coming out aboard BA short haul), it’s better value than the £576 asked at booking, and represents some value in terms of Tier Points – which always helps. The daytrip fares add an extra element (and if you look hard enough on BA.com, they’re bookable still)… they’re just advertised any more.
The Paris Pokemon Centre was a fans dream. Well organised – and the addition of the artwork making an excellent adventure. A shame it was 1) only open three weeks and 2) the hour plus queue to get into the place.
Paris itself? Sorry – I’m not a fan on the city. I tried hard, but the amount of scams really started to annoy me this trip, and to be honest, I wanted to get out there after doing the basic sights and sounds…. and its something the authorities need to get a grip of too, as it does put people off a city.
Chiltern Railways got me home safely and reasonably fast, whilst Heathrow Express remains one of the least best value ways of getting from Heathrow to sort-of London
And as to the Pokemon I caught? The real reason I went? Well. I caught a few Pokemon:
Fennekin, Pikachu and Dedenne at Chez GhettoIFE.
And that’s your lot from this Daytrip.
I’m taking a bit of a summer break from flying (as prices during the summer holiday period in the United Kingdom is extortionate), but I will be back in September as I prepare for one of those mad sort of runs as I join my fellow bloggers in Las Vegas for: Mmmm! BAcon! The 2nd Rasher – The long way round and back.
Until then – Thanks for reading. Your comments are always welcome.
