Hello from the Mandalay Bay – where I’m currently packing some bags. In the mean time, I thought I’d do another quick look at my flight on Thursday on British Airways 295
Transiting Heathrow
There is sometime a heavy fear of transiting Heathrow Airport – and it’s with darn good reason, as nice comfortable connections can turn into “<swearword>, RUN FOR THE GATE” if unplanned.
This time, I did a T1 UK+Ireland to Domestic to the T5 Galleries First Lounge in under thirty minutes flat. This time, BA put a bus out to meet the plane, and connecting passengers were diverted onto it, avoiding the hell of the “Green Mile”, and going landside.
British Airways Galleries First
Again, great people here, with them able to issue me all the boarding passes for this trip. No buying from World Traveller to Plus – a shame, but not the end of the world
Food and drink was pretty much the usual, however, it gives me a chance to run these pictures:
Oh come on, what did you expect?
Onboard
Well, its British Airways World Traveller Bulkhead seat. ‘Nuff said really?
On a 747 it wasn’t that bad, but it was tight, with elbow wars in full progress. Considering the flight was pretty solid in World Traveller – it wasn’t pleasant.
Food
British Airways food doesn’t tend to disappoint in economy class, and the Chicken casserole was pretty reasonable in economy class – with a decent amount of chicken
Trust me. I’ve had a lot worse across the pond.
Even the pre-arrival snack wasn’t too shabby (if a bit small)
The flight itself was pretty reasonable, with a comparability chop-free flight, however the route was all over the shop…
We did go every way but which, with a very northely flight, and the only time I saw Lake Michigan was in the wrong direction (as the plane had to do a loop over the lake before landing
Flying over the Lake going the wrong direction.
The only major beef I had with the flight was the delay (departing and landing). This had a much bigger problem me when I landed in Chicago, as my 1 hour 40 connection had sliced itself down to 1 hour.
Thankfully, I found a way out of that…
Look out for the full review in the coming weeks.

BA World Traveller looks pretty good actually. May I ask why you did not opt for the non-stop LHR-LAS?

Hi Joey. Direct flight = £1100. Indirect with lots of changes from Dublin £540. Even throwing in the postioning flights and hotel, I’m £400 or so up….
