Viva Las BAcon – The MGM Grand

23/09/2014 by Kevincm

Good afternoon from Dublin Airport where Irish eyes are smiling, and I’ve got a triple espresso to try to keep me awake to my final destination.

Time to look at some Vegas Hotels in the quick snapshots. Lets look at my first crash-spot – the MGM Grand.

It’s location south of the strip is in my preferred zone of Las Vegas Boulevard (I’m not a fan of the north locations), and its a very quick hop from the airport.  The other reason I was here was that a Hotels.com $40 voucher knocked the price down from $99 to $59.

Checking in was.. painful.

The queues did go for miles it seemed, although queue went down at a reasonable speed..

My room assignment was originally in the West Wing (which would require a Sherpa to get there and back), but check-in moved me into the North Tower.

And that was just a hike across the casino floor.

So what do get for a $59 room paid with PayPal? This.

Not bad at all if I’m honest. Or to put it another wat: After a very long set of flights I slept like a log. The bed was comfortable, the aircon wasn’t that noisy.

Even after an early walk on the strip, the room cooled me down quickly, and was well stocked with amenities.

Although beware – those trigger fridges are dangerous as Kerri at Heels First wrote

And as for check out? Whilst it’s great to have iPad based systems to do express checkouts, it doesn’t help when the back end is slow
So enough to create a queue to rival the main check-out.

The full review later.

I get my bill the night before check out, make sure its correct then check out on the tv in the AM. If the tv’s broken I call the desk and checkout. If they don’t answer I just leave.
