American Airlines are continuing their Asian expansion from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, with the airline filing for route authority to the US Department of Transport to operate a service between Dallas Fort Worth and Beijing Capital Airport.
American Airlines Boeing 777-200ER at Dallas Fort Worth preparing to head to Heathrow. More on that flight later this week.
Subject to approval, this will be American Airlines fifth direct flight from its fortress hub at Dallas Fort Worth to Asia, currently serving Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo, allowing from connections across the US, Mexico and Central America to Asia.
Services are planned to commence in Summer 2015.
The planned Beijing route calls for the use of a Boeing 777-200ER. These aircraft are in the process of being refitted with new seats in Business Class, Main Cabin Extra and Main Cabin (although don’t get lumbered with an un-refitted Boeing 777-200 – they’re painful on a Trans-Atlantic flight… I wouldn’t want to hazard a guess how nasty it would be on Trans-Pacific flight).
No times or frequencies have been confirmed yet between Dallas and Beijing, but it would be a safe assumption to assume a daily flight between the two cities.
For those who need to go through Dallas Fort Worth, this adds a nice set of connectivity, which has slowly been looking towards Asia and beyond for new traffic flows. Certainly, it raises Dallas Fort Worth as more of an international hub than before.
