Bombardier are continuing with their CSeries programme as they continue the flight testing of their new mid-sized jet. This week, the first flight test aircraft – FTV1 retook to the skies after being repaired after an incident that grounded the testing programme.

The plane took back to the skies on the 6th November, bringing a total of three test aircraft – FTV1, FTV2 and FTV4 into the fleet.
FTV1 rejoined the programme after structural repairs to the aircraft, suitable ground and engine tests.
The major task for the CSeries test programme is to refine the aircraft, as well as building up flight hours that are needed in the certification programme.
FTV1 and FTV2 will be based at Bombardier’s base at Montreal Mirabel, whilst FTV4 is based at Wichita in Kansas. FTV3 is expected to return to flight in the near future – strengthening the test fleet to four aircraft in the next few weeks.
For Bombardier, it’s another step on the way as it goes on to prove that the CSeries is a viable alternative to the larger Embraer’s and the smaller Airbus/Boeing aircraft.
Hopefully, the CSeries test programme will remain on track. Airlines such as Swiss International Airlines, Korean Air, Gulf Air and other are waiting for these new planes.
