United adds Chicago to Rome for the summer

24/12/2014 by Kevincm

Even as we slip toward Christmas, airlines are firming up their Summer 2015 planes – and no, it’s not that far away no matter how far we want it to be.

United Airlines will be adding a daily service from Chicago O’Hare International to Rome Fiumicino Airport for summer months.

United Airlines Boeing 777-200ER landing at Heahtrow - Image, Economy Class and Beyond.

The service will operate between 4th June  and 23rd September 2015 according to the following timetable:

UA970 DEPART ORD 18:20 ARRIVE FCO 10:30+1
UA971 DEPART FCO 12:55 ARRIVE ORD 16:30

UA971 operates as above Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
UA971 operates ten minutes earlier on Thursdays and Sundays
UA971 arrives ten minutes later on Saturdays
Booked equipment: United Boeing 777-200ER
Commences from USA: 4th June 2015
Concludes from USA: 23rd September 2015.

The plane is currently booked for a 3-Class United 777-200ER, with tickets and seats available with:

  • 8 United Global First Seats
  • 40 United Business First Seats
  • 113 Economy Plus Seats
  • 108 Economy Seats

The seat map – rather empty at the moment…

There is a small caveat that this service is subject to govermental approval.  None the less, the timings should be good for those who wish to connect to the service at Chicago on the way out – whilst returning, timings could be a bit tight if you need to catch an evening connection from O’Hare.

United currently offers services from Rome to Newark and Washington-Dulles, so an extra service to the Italian capital is always welcome. This will compete with seasonal Alitalia and American Airlines services (so all three alliances are represented).

For those in the windy city and beyond who want an Italian fling over the summer, this isn’t a bad bet…

I have been planning for a World tour, and my wife and I purchased some attractions coupons, for the Colosseum and BonAppetour dinners (a dining experience with locals) and many more. Check out the site, we have hosts for different places throughout the World .
