TAM Airlines is to head for further north than the United States of America, and over the border into Canada – with the announcement of a service to commence from Sao Paulo to Toronto Pearson Airport – via New York JFK.
TAM Boeing 777-300ER at London Heathrow Airport
The route will operate as a tag-on/fifth freedom flight, operating five days a week via New York JFK with the following timetable published:
JJ8102 DEPART GRU 21:40 ARRIVE JFK 07:00+1 DEPART 1115+1 ARRIVE YYZ 1300+1 JJ8103 DEPART YYZ 16:35 ARRIVE JFK 18:30 DEPART 2150 ARRIVE GRU 0910+1 Commences 28th March 2015 JJ8102 operates Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Sao Paulo JJ8103 operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Toronto Pearson Booked equipment: Boeing 767-300ER Data: Airlineroute
The tag on service will compete with Air Canada’s non stop service between Toronto and Sao Paulo, as well as the many one-stop options that you can choose.
It’s an unusual route in today’s world of direct flights everywhere – and hopefully will be a prelude to a regular direct service between Toronto and Sao Paulo by TAM.
For now, this is a start.
