Becky over at The Girl and The Globe asked a question on Twitter last night:
Have you ever been worried about making travel preparations? What were you/are you nervous about?

An intresting question. Whilst I am getting forgetful (like booking a hotel 3 days before travelling), there are actually three things I worry about before and during travelling itself… and it can be summed up by Edina and Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous
As the title says TICKETS, MONEY, PASSPORT
In terms of tickets, it’s ensuring that the right tickets have been issued – and more precisely that the routings on them are exactly as I require them to be. Alas, if a certain airline decides to mess around with a ticket – then, it’s open season. That also includes booking for tours (if I’ve booked them), hotels (and getting the right address for the hotel)… and train tickets home if I’ve booked them in advanced.
Money? A fair wodge of local currency never goes amiss in any country. Whilst Credit Cards are great tools, there will be occasions you won’t be able to use them (smaller shops for example, taxis when Uber and friends aren’t an opton). In addition, some countries are very cash-centric (such as Japan – go on, try and buy a Sucia ticket with a credit card of any sort – not going to happen)
Passport! Making sure my passport is in date and knowing where the thing is. Also checking before hand that I don’t need a Visa – or if there are any particular requirements to enter a country.
And also making sure the camera is charged ;), or making sure that if you have prescription drugs that you have an adequate supply of them.
Nearly anything else can be obtained downroute on a trip (I know this shocks people, but other countries do have shops!) and its not impossible to go with a small backpack, and stock up with what you need on the trip itself.
But at the end – Tickets, Money, Passport. Anything else… is a bonus on top.

I agree with the list; though i would put passport on top, then money, then tickets. 😉 In addition to the record locator or confirmation code, I always make sure I have the actual ticket number handy as well in case there are any complications.

I’ve screwed up on tickets a few times, sometimes minor issues, and twice major problems (one I caught ahead of time and fixed easily but at a cost; the other I didn’t realize til I was at the airport). Luckily, with a passport and money, you can actually fix the tickets problem if you have it!
