Tesco ClubCard to Virgin Atlantic – 30% bonus offer!

31/01/2015 by Kevincm

For those of you (like me) who have a stack of Tesco Clubcard vouchers, and have been looking to dump them into an airline bonus, Virgin Atlantic could be a good option with a 30% conversion bonus. Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic Conversion bonus at Tesco

So lets to the crunch:

  • Normal transfer rate: £2.50 in Tesco ClubCard vouchers =625 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles
  • 30% uplift on the basic transfer rate gives a rough bonus of 187.5 points (rounded up 188 miles).
  • Total points during the bonus period per £2.50 converted: 813 miles

Considering there are no special offers at the moment, this isn’t a bad offer to say the least. Certainly for those with silly Avios balances who wish to diversify.

Those who want to auto-convert their Tesco ClubCard points into Avios can do so, with a 1,000 mile bonus.

There are some interesting terms and conditions attached to this offer to allow family members to pool vouchers together at the same address. As written by Tesco:

Please note: only valid Clubcard vouchers (printed with the name of the Clubcard holder) making the booking, and that matches with name showing on the Clubcard Statement mailings and entitled ‘voucher’) can be exchanged into Flying Club miles. Bookings can only be made by the Clubcard member. Vouchers may be pooled but only by members with accounts registered with Clubcard at the same postal address. Vouchers must be in date and not sold, damaged, defaced, copied, altered or redeemed.

The timing of the offer is interesting the light of the changes by other companies, but for those who want to diversify their ClubCard balances, this could be a good thing to do.

Or you could spend your ClubCard vouchers at Pizza Express. Slightly tastier, I’ll grant you that.

For those who want to take advantage of the offer, head to http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=2179 and spend away.
