It seems that Emirates is adding more capacity on its Dubai – Milan Malpensa – New York JFK service, with the airline adding an Airbus A380 on this route.

The double-deckered Airbus A380 will operate on EK205/206 flight pair, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER that is currently used between Dubai, Milan and New York.
The service will switch over on the 1st June 2015 from Dubai.
The service which launched in 2013 has caused some major disquiet with US carriers who aren’t a fan of the Middle Eastern carrier launching this “Fifth Freedom” flight – nor Alitalia which brought a case against Emirates along with other Italian airlines to block this service, ultimately failing to.
The Milan-New York JFK direct route is contested by Delta, America, Alitalia and Emirates.
No doubt the move to place an Airbus A380 on this route will cause more flapping from other carriers who’s products or fares don’t compete with Emirates and more moaning that some Gulf airlines are muscling in.
For customers – there will be more choice when it comes to travelling on a route.
