It seems the British Airways are in a rush to sell some Avios with a 3 day flash sale on Avios.
In the sale, you can get 50% bonus Avios, as well as taking advantage of the higher maximum avios purchase rate of 35,000.
50% is one heck of a bonus, and rarely seen through the sales of Avios in the past.
£575 – For those who have the money to splash and haven’t used their Avios allowance, this will give a total of 52,5000 Avios for – a fair whack.
The sale ends on Wednesday 25th February.
But is it worth it?
Again – it’s a personal choice.
For those of you who are short of Avios on that dream reward – go for it. It’ll be a cheap way to top off the Avois you need in a hurry.
For those who like the minimum fuss of getting Avios, it’s an easy purchase – buy once and done. There’s no messing around at all (be it buying stuff at Tesco, painful mileage runs, no need to wait for credit card spends to appear – and if you buy using an Avios earning credit card, there will be a few bonus points).
With the recent devaluations, some people would be uneasy about buying Avios – and I’m among them. We all know the value of points goes down as well as down, and simply hoarding Avios for the sake of it isn’t a sound strategy. Those of you with burgeoning balances as usual should focus on earning and burning.
With any purchase like this, I do recommend planning ahead, ensuring the availability you need is there – and not buying them speculatively.
And if you find a route, with the availability and you can use for the discounted Avios amount – go for it.

Hi, I have a problem and need help. I have set my address to UK and also country to UK. It still shows price in USD, and it is $100 more expensive than the exchange rate. 575 pounds should be $885, but it shows $998 instead.

Can’t see any reference if the purchase price includes VAT or VAT is additional? I am not really interested in purchasing a large number of AVIOS miles considering the new redemption rates. What I do find useful is the top up purchase which seems to work out to a very reasonable purchase price…in U$s about 2¢ a mile…which seems to be about the net per mile after currency conversion from £a and the cc mark-up/exchange fees.
However, I do have some BA WT flights coming up later this week, perhaps I should calculate if this is worth taking advantage of to sit in WT+?

BA is devaluing their miles lately. And it is hard to calculate how many miles are required for a flight, as they disabled their interactive flight finder. I reached them out using twitter regarding this issue and the response was very vague. I would stay away from buying avios or even considering their credit card.
