At Economy Class and Beyond Towers, I use National Express way too much for my liking.
A National Express Coach at Manchester Airport
Why?
Whilst the train network is not bad at all, it does come with a major downside – in that it shuts down at night. Alas most of my positioning to London or Manchester is done in the dead of the night.
Whilst National Express isn’t perfect, it isn’t as bad as it was in the past – it did have a rather deary reputation of surly bus drivers and buses that were a bit in the past. Things have improved – coaches are mostly clean, modern, have reclining seats and there’s nearly enough legroom on a coach.
Well, National Express are doing a bit of a firesale – with 20% off for journeys booked until 23:59 of the 21st April, for journeys between 24th April and 30th April.
Unusually, this includes all airport routes – which are normally overpriced to say the least.
There are exclusions:
- 20% discount available online only
- 20% discount available to book until midnight on 21 April 2015
- 20% discount available for travel between 24 and 30 April 2015
- A £1 booking fee for each transaction will be added during the booking process
- Not valid in conjunction with any other discount, promotion or Coachcard discount
- Excludes third party services, Eurolines and event services
- Not valid when purchasing Coachcards or any other products
- Amendment fees may apply depending on ticket type purchased
If your travel needs don’t point to the rails, but do point to the coach – and you’ve got a trip to do next week, it could be worth shopping around.
Even without the sale, it’s possible to cheapish tickets (normally when booking a return ticket when a 20% discount applies to the whole ticket).
