Earlier this week, Avianca has firmed up its order with Airbus for 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft

Avianca signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus in February and have converted it into an order for A320neo family (including the A321neo, A320neo and A319neo).
This brings the total A320neo family order by Avianca up to 133 aircraft.
No actual split of equipment has been disclosed. Currently, Avianca operates a mixture of 10 Airbus A318s, 33 Airbus A319s, 53 Airbus A320s and 9 Airbus A321 aircraft.
The aircraft will be deployed in Avianca’s hubs in Bogota, Lima and San Salvador, and used to replace existing aircraft in their fleet.
This is the largest Airbus order in Latin America and consolidates their position as a major supplier to Avianca (the airline also operates Embraer E-190s, ATR Turboprops, Boeing 787s and Cessna 208s).
Whilst it’s a confirmation of an order, this will be welcomed in Toulouse as Airbus seeks to solidify the long-term sales of the A320neo.
And with 3,600 A320neos on the order book, there’s a lot of aircraft to build.
