It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, it’s a United Express Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia operated by SkyWest arriving at San Francisco International Airport.
The venerable Embraer EMB 120 has been removed from service this week for services operated by SkyWest, connecting local communities to bigger hubs.
SkyWest at its peak operated a fleet of 44 Embaer EMB-120s.
As the majors are demanding more capacity, the writing has been on the wall for this type of aircraft for some time (much like the sub 50 seater market), as US regional carriers migrate to all-jet fleets
Embraer EMB-120s continue to be operated by other carriers around the world, so it’s possible
More Airplane art next week.

I can’t think how many segments I’ve flown on EMB-120s around California. Many years I got 1K on segments, half of which were on this plane. Seats 9 B & C were the best Regional seats of any airline.

Ah, the Brasilia – I loved the noisy, tiny things, ’cause they usually meant visiting family. Flew them many, many times…FAT-LAS, FAT-SFO, FAT-LAX, and SFO-ACV to visit family and friends in California. The lower altitude flights and big windows meant great views, and getting the “window/aisle” side meant they were more comfortable than you’d expect from a 30ish passenger plane.
You can still get that cozy cabin feeling on the ERJ-135/140/145, it’s the same fuselage, but missing the soundtrack.
I’ll miss them.
