With the Airbus A350XWB now being operated in earnest by Qatar Airways, it’s almost time for another airline to get the bunting out as it prepares welcome a new aircraft in the fleet – this time it’s Vietnam Airlines.
Airbus took Vietnam Airlines first A350-900 out for its first flight.

Vietnam Airlines will be the launch customer in South East Asia for the Airbus A350 (and the second customer to obtain an A350, and have 14 of the type on order – 10 owned and 4 leased (the one that has taken flight will be leased from AerCap).
Whilst this aircraft is now flying – it still needs its cabin installed as well as additional testing to be completed before the aircraft can be delivered.
Delivery of the plane is due in “Mid 2015”, with Vietnam Airlines planning to launch long haul services between Hanoi and Paris Charles De Gaulle from 1st October 2015.
And whilst we can talk about delivery dates and first flights, I do think the colours and lines this plane has suit it very well – least of all, those colours are distinctive in the air.
The next carrier who will be in line to get their first A350 will be the European launch partner – Finnair.
