Lufthansa adds Nairobi back to its network

09/06/2015 by Kevincm

Expansion seems to be the name of the game, with Lufthansa adding Nairobi into its network from the autumn timetable.

Lufthansa will operate the route between Frankfurt and Nairobi with an Airbus A340-300 on this route, operating the following timetable:

LH590 DEPART FRA 11:10 ARRIVE NBO 21:15
LH591 DEPART NBO 23:20 ARRIVE FRA 05:55+1

Commences: 27th October 2015
Operates Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
Booked equipment: Airbus A340-300

The route will operate 4 days a week initially, and will be boosted to five services a week between 11th December 2015 and end of January 2016.

For those connecting from other Lufthansa flights, the timings should allow you to meet this flight from internal flights in Germany, Intra-European flights and North American flights.

Lead-in fares will start at €649 from Frankfurt.

Lufthansa will contend the route with other European carriers on the route (as well as Emirates, Etihad and Qatar), whilst not having to worry about Nairobi based Kenya Airways offering a competing direct service.

Some more competition is always welcome on routes, and this is another route that those redeeming miles might want to keep an eye on.

More interesting to see will be the traffic on this route – and if it is sustainable beyond a single seasons traffic…
