Thai Airways has confirmed they will be commencing Airbus A380 operations between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and London Heathrow.
The route has been mooted on and off, with a switch to A380 operations from the 1st July now confirmed and loaded in the booking systems.
However, Thai Airways will be cutting back to one flight a day between Bangkok and London with their new timetable:
TG911 DEPART LHR 12:30 ARRIVE BKK 05:45+1 TG910 DEPART BKK 01:10 ARRIVE LHR 07:15 Commences 1st July 2015 Booked equipment: Thai Airways Airbus A380
Checking the booking engine confirms this change:
Thai operate a 485 seater Airbus A380 configured as:
- 12 Royal First Class Seats (Upper Deck)
- 60 Royal Silk Business Class Seats (upper deck)
- 58 Economy Class seats (upper deck)
- 377 Economy Class seats (lower deck)
Thai Airways contest the direct route between Bangkok and London with British Airways and EVA Air, with lots of indirect options via European and Middle Eastern airlines.
Still, using an Airbus A380 at Heathrow is a logical decision at a capacity constrained airport and using the biggest possible equipment allows for most people to be moved in one flight.
A shame the timings are less than optimal.
