For those of you who love the Whalejet, British Airways is bringing forward its plans to operate the double decker Airbus A380 between London Heathrow and Singapore Changi Airport.

British Airways plan to roster the Airbus A380 on one of the two daily flights between London and Singapore on BA11/BA12, with the BA15/16 remaining as a Boeing 777-300ER service (which also forms the onward service between Singapore and Sydney).
The A380 will operate from 24th February from London Heathrow.
The combined timetable looks like below:
London to Singapore BA011 DEPART LHR20:00 ARRIVE SIN 16:00+1 Airbus A380 BA015 DEPART LHR21:35 ARRIVE SIN 17:40+1 Boeing 777-300ER Singapore to London BA012 DEPART SIN 22:45 ARRIVE SIN 05:05+1 Airbus A380 BA016 DEPART SIN 23:15 ARRIVE SIN 05:30+1 Boeing 777-300ER Revised timetable commences from London on 24th February BA011/BA012 will operate with an Airbus A380 BA015/BA016 will operate with a Boeing 777-300ER, with continuing service to Sydney Data: Airlineroute
It also still amazes me the timings of BA12 and BA16 are so tight, that there are two services to Heathrow departing within 30 minutes of each other.
The London Heathrow to Singapore non-stop route is contested (of course) by Singapore Airlines who have been operating Airbus A380s for some years now (and at one point, operated all three of its daily rotations to London with Airbus A380s).
Still for passengers who like oneworld products and British Airways products this will be a boon (especially for those in economy class – where the seats are a bit wider in economy aboard an A380 than they are aboard a 777).

Immigration at LHR will be a bear with those two birds getting in so close.

Just FYI, this isn’t entirely new – they already run the A380 three or four days per week, alternating with the 747. This change will see the end of the 747 though, which is a shame – I really didn’t like the Upper Deck on the A380 when I first tried it last month.
I never thought I would say this but I’d prefer the 77W for future trips…
