Boeing today delivered their first 747-8i aircraft to Korean Air today – and in the process, making the airline the third carrier who are operating the passenger variant of the latest generation 747.

This is the first of ten Boeing 747-8i aircraft due to Korean Air as they add to their fleet.
These will be equipped with new First Class Suits – called “Kosmo 2.0” suites, as well as new Prestige Class (Business Class) suites.

And of course, lots of Economy Class seats.

Korean Air is unique as it will operate both the freighter and passenger variants of the 747-8. It also joins the ranks of Lufthansa and Air China as operators of the passenger variant of the jumbo jet.
Korean Air is a big operator of Boeing aircraft, and have operated many of the older Boeing 747 types in the past (and currently 13 Boeing 747-400s in the fleet)
For the passenger, it looks an improvement in terms of space in business class, bigger screens in first… and in economy… well the seat covers are blue.
The first long haul route to receive the Boeing 747-8i will be the Seoul Incheon to Frankfurt route in September, followed by Seoul Incheon to Singapore.
As usual, if you do want to catch the new plane on its first sorties, ensure your ticket is amendable or refundable in case they switch the equipment around…
