Selfie Sticks at JR West Stations are no longer welcome…

23/09/2015 by Kevincm

I admit I hate the things. Those metal poles that extend, might have a mount and turns people into zombies.

I am of course referring to Selfie Sticks.

Selfie Stick bans have been many and varied, with Disney banning the things, football clubs, as well as various landmarks around the world.

Well it seems that the Selfie Stick are now on the banned list on JR West platforms according to the Japan Times and RocketNews.

The ban affects the use of them on platforms and service areas, with the fear that selfie sticks will come into contact with power lines, trains and also annoying other users of the railway.

Over 1,195 stations will be affected.

Selfie sticks have already been banned on JR Central Tokaido Shikansen stations, JR West Shinkansen stations between Nagano and Kanazawa.

So if you do need to do a selfie on a JR West station… start practising extending your arm…
