It seems San Jose is the next hot spot, with Lufthansa following British Airways in launching a route to San Jose in California.
Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 at Frankfurt Airport – Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
The service between Frankfurt and San Jose commences on the 29th April with a five-day a week service. The timetable looks like this
LH488 DEPART FRA 10:40 ARRIVE SJC 13:40 LH489 DEPART SJC 15:20 ARRIVE FRA 11:35+1 Commences 29th April 2016 Operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Booked Equipment: Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 Data: Lufthansa
The Lufthansa service starts one week prior to British Airways commencing their service.
The A340-300 will be configured in a three class format – however, keep a very close on what you’re booking.
Data from Airlineroute indicates that initially this plane will operate as a Lufthansa Mainline Service from launch until the 29th June 2016 (made up of 30 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy and 221 Economy seats).
After the 30th June 2016, the route will switch to a Lufthansa CityLine A330 with a much denser seating in the back, and lighter premium seating (made up of 18 Business seats 19 Premium Economy and 261 Economy Seat)
For those who do fly, it’s a long 12 hour slog between the two points. Might want to get cozy if you choose that fight.
It’s a logical link up, connecting Silicon Valley to the heart of Europe’s financial institutions. Hopefully this route will work for the airline.
