EDITORS NOTE: This was meant to go out on last Monday/Tuesday, but for various reasons – it didn’t. Still relevant if you’re thinking about these fares though….
For those of you who don’t mind economy class, there’s a sale on from British Airways redemptions, where you can pay 40% less Avios than usual.
British Airways Boeing 747-400 at New York JFK – this is one of the routes on sale!
You will need to book by the 2nd November 2015 at the new rates in World Traveller, for travel between 19 October 2015 and 20 March 2016.
At first glance, it’s not too bad. Even for an economy seat (not on a 787 though if you value your comfort), it’s a pretty reasonable product.

There is a nasty stinger in this offer – whilst the amount of Avios has been reduced by 40%, taxes and charges remain the same.
In a lot of cases, buying the cash fare element could well be better value if you collect Avios and Tier points.
However, this offer comes into its own when prices are high, and seats on tight demand routes are available – Tis is when the redemption works.
Also note, the redemption ticket is pretty flexible compared to a cheap economy ticket – so if you need to fiddle with your dates, this could be a good redemption.

It’s not a great offer – but it is good if played with correctly… and also with a lot of consideration of when you want to travel.

Its only for UK accounts – so kind of irrelevant for most of us

As I write to a UK and World Audience… Still relevant…
More to the frequent flyer and points world than the USA I’m afraid to say.
