Qatar Airways continues to expand its European network, adding Birmingham in the United Kingdom as its fourth UK destination
Qatar Airways will operate a service between Doha and Birmingham eight times a week (one service a day, with double services on Saturdays). The planned timetable looks like this
Doha to Birmingham QR035 DEPART DOH 01:25 ARRIVE BHX 06:45 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday QR033 DEPART DOH 07:30 ARRIVE BHX 12:50 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday Birmingham to Doha QR036 DEPART BHX 09:15 ARRIVE DOH 18:05 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday QR034 DEPART BHX 15:00 ARRIVE DOH 23:50 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday Commences from DOH 30th March 2016 Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-8 Data: Airlineroute
Qatar Airways operate their Boeing 787-8s in a two class configuration – Business and Economy.
I’ve flown aboard the Qatar Airways 787 in economy… and it’s a bit tight due to the 3-3-3 seating configuration – although for the segment length – it should be bearable.
Whilst this is the 4th destination that Qatar Airways will serve in the UK, it will face heavy competition from Emirates who have a long established outpost at Birmingham (including its own lounge), operating a three-time daily service between Birmingham and Dubai.
There is also plenty of competition from European legacy carriers including Air France, KLM and Lufthansa.
None the less, its another oneworld airline at Birmingham Airport, whilst British Airways continues to ignore the regions…
