Air Canada adds more Vancouver to London Services, cuts others…

02/11/2015 by Kevincm

Air Canada will be boosting its Vancouver to London Heathrow services during the summer period of 2016, however other routes will feel cuts.

Firstly the boost between Vancouver and Heathrow, which will add a second daily service between 1st June and 29th September 2016 (from Vancouver).

The current flight pair – AC854/AC855 – will remain, with AC896/AC897 joining the party for part of the summer.

The combined timetable looks a bit like this:

Vancouver to London Heathrow
AC854 DEPART YVR 18:30 ARRIVE LHR 11:40+1 Boeing 777-300ER
AC896 DEPART YVR 21:10 ARRIVE LHR 14:20+1 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

London Heathrow to Vancouver
AC855 DEPART LHR 10:05 ARRIVE YVR 11:35 Boeing 777-300ER
AC897 DEPART LHR 16:15 ARRIVE YVR 17:45 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

AC854/AC855 operates with a Boeing 777-300ER, operates through entire timetable
AC896 operates from Vancouver between 1st June and 29th September 2016
AC897 operates from London Heathrow between 2nd June and 30th September 2016

Whilst Vancouver gets a major boost in capacity over the summer, other routes to London will be cut, with the seasonal route between Edmonton and London Heathrow being chopped.

Meanwhile, Calgary to London Heathrow will be shrunk from an 11 times a week service to a daily service (7 times a week)

Whilst more services to Vancouver are welcome, for those who want to go to Calgary or Edmonton will have to make more connections when they travel.

As usual, plan appropriately and check for changes – especially as Summer 2016 won’t be far away soon.

Interesting considering Westjet announced flights to London from Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg all on the cheap!
