Hawaiian Airlines appear to be conducting a two-pronged attack on service between Hawaii and the Greater Tokyo Region with the addition of a daily service between Honolulu International Airport and Tokyo Narita Airport.

Hawaian Airlines will operate a daily service, based on the following timetable:
HA821 DEPART HNL 15:30 ARRIVE NRT 19:00+1 HA822 DEPART NRT 21:00 ARRIVE HNL 09:55 Commences: 22nd July 2016 Booked Equipment: Airbus A330-300
Currently, Hawaiian Airlines operate a daily service to Tokyo Haneda (which in your writers view – a lot easier to get into downtown Tokyo from than Narita), Osaka, and a three-times a week service to Sapporo (New Chitose Airport).
Narita offers wide options for those who wish to international connections, as well as access to low cost carriers operating in Japan and the region.
For those seeking something “beyond the normal” carriers operating across the Pacific Ocean – these could be interesting routes to investigate.
