It’s coming to that time of the year where we’re meant to be festive and jolly. Alas, if you’re planning to take the train over the Christmas holiday you could be out of luck as the railway lines will be suffering closures for engineering work.
For the international audience who are coming or going to London’s major airports – you will be affected by these closures.

- 24th December – No services after 20:25
- 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th December – No services to and from London. Heathrow Central to Terminal 4/5 will operate.
- 29th, 3oth, 31st December and 1 January 2016 – Heathrow Express running every 30 minutes all day
- 2nd January – 30 minute service will operate, with an early last service

- 24 December 2015 – No services after 20:51
- 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th December – No services to and from London. Heathrow Central to Terminal 4/5 will operate.
- 29th, 3oth, 31st December and 1 January 2016 – A modified service will operate with, no stopping at Hanwell or West Ealing
- 2nd January 2016 modified service will operate with, no stopping at Hanwell or West Ealing. Note that services will finish earlier than normal.

- Gatwick Express will be suspended from 22:00 Thursday 24 December 2015 until 04:00 Monday 4 January 2016. No services will run.
- Southern will operate two services an hour to/from Victoria and Gatwick via Horsham, taking 90 minutes
- Alternatively, Southern will operate two trains an hour from Victoria to East Grinstead, and then a replacement bus service between East Grinstead and Gatwick Airport. This will be the only option on the 26th December.
Nothing says “Merry Christmas” more than rail line closures.
For the rest of the UK Network there is major disruption expected – especially on these routes and areas :
- London Liverpool Street
- Doncaster area / Cleethorpes – Doncaster / Newark North Gate
- Crewe – Stafford
- London Cannon Street / Charing Cross
- London Paddington – Reading (Crossrail)
- London – Brighton
