Hyatt Hotels hit by Malware

It seems that Hyatt Hotels has joined the list of hotels that have been attacked by Malware.

It seems the hotels systems have been hit by malware on the payment systems at Hyatt-managed locations.

The issued statement goes into little detail sadly of which properties are hit and where (which would had been nice), nor the dates that have been hit.

December 23, 2015 (CHICAGO) – Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced that it recently identified malware on computers that operate the payment processing systems for Hyatt-managed locations. As soon as Hyatt discovered the activity, the company launched an investigation and engaged leading third-party cyber security experts.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be posted to www.hyatt.com/protectingourcustomers. Hyatt has taken steps to strengthen the security of its systems, and customers can feel confident using payment cards at Hyatt hotels worldwide.

As always, customers should review their payment card account statements closely and report any unauthorized charges to their card issuer immediately. Payment card rules generally provide that cardholders are not responsible for unauthorized charges that are timely reported.

Customers with questions may visit www.hyatt.com/protectingourcustomers or call 1-877-218-3036 (U.S. and Canada) or +1-814-201-3665 (International) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST.

Of course, you’ll need to keep an eye on your credit card transactions for suspicious activity. Hyatt’s page at www.hyatt.com/protectingourcustomers (again is very light on the details).

Hyatt Hotels joins Hilton, Starwood and Trump hotels in being hit – and with hotel systems being very public facing… I’d sadly expect more hotels to be hit.

Also, might be worth changing your credit cards if they have been used in a Hyatt location.
