It’s that time where I start reviewing 2015… before we hit 2016.

Lets have a look at some of highlights of 2015

JANUARY

  • GoGo begun shaping its traffic and injecting unwelcome man in the middle certificates… and then promptly stopped.
  • I flew Ryanair. Then British Airways. Then US Airways. Then Hated US Airways. Then really hated British Airways. Find out why in Book it Danno. and I get ranty
  • Cyprus Airways ceases flying
  • I look into HotelTonight… and I wasn’t impressed.
  • Marriott backed down from banning personal hotspot devices.
  • American Airlines announces Dallas to Shanghai
  • British Airways takes an axe to the Avios Scheme… whilst a “Downfall” video takes flight
  • Qatar Airways buys 9.99% of IAG
  • And Sir Patrick Stewart demonstrates the most annoying people on a plane.

FEBRUARY

  • EasyJet gets the paint brushes out.
  • Cathay Pacific earmarks Düsseldorf as a new destination. I liked that later on in the year…
  • I asked as Frequent Flyers are we caught in a bad romance?
  • Delta to serve Starbucks Coffee
  • I take a look at Iberia’s bidding for upgrade system and how it works
  • Uber comes to my home city
  • I take a look at EC/261 and how to claim it from a certain airline.
  • Delta’s Richard Anderson begins his year of hate against the Middle East Three Airlines
  • Bargin hunters raced to get tickets on United in Norwegian Krona. It didn’t end well.
  • I go to London Fashion Weekend and learn how to do some catwalk photography. (It’s tough as as heck).
  • Bombardier take the CSeries CS300 to the air for the first time
  • … and I still make GhettoIFE systems. So there.

MARCH

  • Heathrow Airport increase its free WiFi time up to 8 hours. Is it worth it?
  • Iberia offer WiFi in the air. Expect to pay hand over fist.
  • Manderin Oriental gets “hacked” – the first of many a hotel “hack” this year
  • SWISS signs for an extra three Boeing 777-300ERs
  • FlyMojo signs for the CS100. That’s rare enough, someone buy CS100s
  • The Hokuriku Shinkansen opens
  • Flybe pulls its London City to Dublin route
  • March was also the month of Germanwings 4U9525 crash.
  • Norwegian Air Shuttle plans takes its London to JFK service daily

APRIL

  • Good news! Ultra Long Haul Air Passenger Duty dropped!
  • The heavyweight A330 was certified
  • I explained how I saved the best part of £5000 thanks to having some points lying around
  • Copa signs for the Boeing 737 MAX
  • Airbus Plan an 11 across A380 economy layout – here and here. No airline has signed for this… yet.
  • The battle of the big bins began with Boeing revealing its move and Airbus with theirs
  • Lumexis announces one of the most interesting IFE systems for airlines who don’t want to install IFE systems
  • The PED Pouch. Say it with me. POSH GHETTO IFE.
  • I saw the future of Premium Economy seats… and I wish airlines would buy it.
  • ANA announce plans to paint a plane in the colours of a Droid we are all looking for.
  • and I work out I’m too old for early morning starts

MAY

  • SWISS confirmed to be the first CSeries operation
  • EasyJet annonces denser seating
  • I look at Snapselect… and it works well.
  • I take a pre-election look at the nasty question that is London Airport expansion (and we’re still looking at it)
  • This Irish government says yes to IAG over Aer Lingus
  • Berlin Brandenburg Airport contiunes to remain a joke
  • And I smashed my iPhone screen.

JUNE

  • Malaysia Airlines begins to “Hard reset” itself
  • Lufthansa plans to implement a €16 charge for non Lufthansa ticketing sources
  • Toronto’s Union Express finally opens. Expect high fares
  • Qantas and American Airlines solidfy their Joint Business agreement with the launch of Sydney to LA routes.
  • Lo! Aer Lingus introduces the Crisp Buttie.
  • It was the Paris Air show. There were a lot of orders…
  • I discuss corperate anthems… featuring the warblings of GaurdaIndoneisa
  • I said goodbye to Heathrow Terminal 1
  • and Boeing shows off the performance of their Boeing 787
