This has been in the works for some time, but it seems the time is right for Garuda Indonesia is to make a return to London Heathrow Airport with a direct flight between Jakarta and London Heathrow

The airline will abandon its one-stop service to London Gatwick via Amsterdam on the 31st March 2016, and will operate from London Heathrow Terminal 4 with plans to operate a five days a week service according Your Heathrow (Heathrow Airport), Travel Daily News and Australian Business Traveller.
Services will operate Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturday and Sundays with the move to London Heathrow.
The has been discussion about the move since November last year, but it seems that plans are finally firming up for the routes swap.
The changes haven’t been loaded on the Garuda Indonesia at the time of writing, but with multiple outlets reporting the change, I would consider it a given that the move will be going ahead (especially when the mouthpiece for Heathrow Airport posts a Press Release).
For passengers, there’s good access to the SkyTeam network at Heathrow airport – as well as creating new opportunities to Indonesia.
For Gatwick Airport, its another loss of a long haul carrier heading off to Heathrow. Other airlines have followed that path (Vietnam Airlines is a recent example), and I’m sure Gatwick Airport will be scrambling around to get another Asian airline in to replace Garuda….
Editors note. I have invoked the words “Garuda Indonesia”. The following is in deference to the words written.
I would say sorry. But as the song states, “I will stand by you for country and for home.”
