British Airways it seems are coming to another London Airport – with Stansted to join the fold in the Summer of 2016.
It seems sun, sea and sand are the name of the game with British Airways sending passengers from Stansted to Faro, Malaga, Palma and Ibiza.
Services will operate on Saturdays and Sundays with Embraer 190 aircraft.

This means that BA CityFlyer will be doing the legwork – and providing work for planes that normally sit idle during the part of the weekend when London City Airport is closed due to noise abatement (London City Airport has strict regulations when aircraft can operate – 06:30 to 22:30 Monday to Friday, 06:30 to 13:00 on Saturdays and 12:30 to 22:30 on Sundays).
Data from Airlineroute indicate that one plane will be doing most of the leg-work, with rather aggressive timings. In addition, for some services it’ll help being a night owl

All Services operate with 98 seat Embraer E-190SR. Planes will be configured to operate using Club Europe and EuroTraveller classes (although the main difference between Club Europe and EuroTraveller is a curtain divider and the food… and if you’re desperate – extra Tier Points and Avios)
Lead-in fares start at £49 each way including hand luggage.
It’s an intresting play by British Airways. On one hand, it’s a chance to get an aircraft working over a weekend. On another hand, it could be a warning to London City Airport if they decide to put up landing fees according the The Guardian.
This could be one to watch… however few the services are in reality.
I have a few reviews on British Airways CityFlyer in Club Europe if you want to see what the service is like:
- Dublin Airport, BA4467 Dublin Airport to London City Airport (Club Europe)
- BA4462 London City Airport to Dublin (Club Europe)
- BA8735 Frankfurt to London City Airport (Club Europe)
