Heathrow Express free upgrade for Star Alliance Gold holders

15/02/2016 by Kevincm

If you hold Star Alliance Gold status and travel on Heathrow Express, there’s a very good offer starting today – allowing you to upgrade from Heathrow Express Standard to First Class for nothing.

Star Alliance Gold Heathrow Express Upgrade

To use this you must

  • Use your Star Alliance Gold Card (which must be valid and a physical card)
  • Have a vaild Heathrow Express Ticket
  • Must be on a full fare ticket

The offer is valid both ways between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 2/3

Full terms and conditions at the Star Alliance site, but this is a reasonable upgrade for those who are grabbing the Heathrow Express at the last minute between Heathrow and London.

It isn’t the cheapest method however for a walk up fare (there’s Heathrow Connect and the Piccadilly Line), but for those of you need to get to London in a hurry and want to go in some comfort – it’s not a bad options.

Even if it is just a 15 minute ride.

There are cheaper methods of getting on the Heathrow Express providing you book in advance.

What is considered “full fare”? Express Saver is 22GBP is what you pay if you buy from machine or office prior to boarding. If you buy on board, it is 27GBP for Express Standard. Is Express Saver considered “full fare”?
