Sometimes when you get to a city after a long flight, you don’t want to argue with public transport providers to get from the airport to a destination – rather you want to get in a cab and go.
Paris is the latest city to implement flat rate cab fares to and from its major airports – Paris Orly and Paris Charles De Gaulle.

Prices are set as such… so not much more haggling is needed any more according to TheLocal.fr:
Paris CDG to:
- Left Bank €55
- Right Bank €50
Paris Orly to:
- Left Bank €30
- Right Bank €35
Other highlights include that taxis cannot charge for extra luggage or pets, but can charge €4 per extra passenger over 4 passengers.
There is no variation in peak/off peak travel or time of travel – so it’s good to go at any time.
In the future, there will also be charges for reserving a taxi – €4 for an immediate reservation and €7 if it is booked in advance.
These compare well with Uber who charge the following with an UberX:
Paris Orly to:
- Left bank €35
- Right Bank €40
Paris CDG to
- Left bank €50
- Right Bank €45
Again, it’s best to compare and contrast depending on the service you want and see what’s best for you.
But for those of you tumbling out of a plane, and straight into a taxi, there’s less chance of being ripped off than there was.

We have taken taxis the last four or five times from CDG and there was never negotiating involved. The meter told the tale and it was always high 40’s to low 50’s to the Left Bank.

My favorite service to use for Paris is Blacklane. I use it frequently there. Since CDG can sometimes be a zoo, Blacklane lets you reserve ahead (although I think you can do it on the spot too), then you get an email confirmation. When you land there’s always an email waiting in your inbox with your driver information. They meet you in arrivals just outside baggage claim and walk you to your car. It’s a little bit old school to reserve ahead, but if you have all your details worked out it’s very convenient. And it’s cheap-ish. I’ve had excellent experiences with them.
