Time for a hotel snapshot which I know a lot of you have been looking forward to.. the IBIS Budget in St Pauli.
Location: It’s near St Pauli U-Bahn Station over the road from the Hamburg DOM. Pretty easy to reach via the Hamburg S-Bahn and U-Bahn. About 20 minutes walk from The Messe (or a 5 minute train ride if you have energy, 10 minutes and a change if you’re a lazy person like you’re truly).
The IBIS to the left, the IBIS Budget to the right.
Getting into the room: Welcome to hell. No keys needed – you’re issued with a key-code, which you plug into the door. Good if you’ve got the code on your phone. Bad if you have a bad memory… or drunk… or jetlaged.
The Bedroom
Well.. what to say? It’s a double bed with a bunk on top. Unusual (more like the Formula 1 hotels), but I’ve seen a lot worse.
TV – All the German Channels, and a few English Channels.
Bathroom Area: Toilet near the entrance, shower to the right, basin with a bar of soap in the middle. I’m glad I obtained a bunch of Hyatt amenities before I went…
Please excuse the idiot photographer in this photo. As well as the Wallet of Bacon (c).
Breakfast: The rate I was on included breakfast (for my own sanity so I’d have something to start the day). It was a German Breakfast – i.e. cold meats, hard boiled eggs and cereals.
Not that I was objecting in the least.
