It seems the delays in delivery of aircraft have forced Qatar Airways to delay their planned long haul operation into February.
Qatar Airways Boeing 777-200LR at Tokyo Narita – now delayed in going to Auckland. Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
Airlineroute confirms the change, noting that the service will now commence on the 1st February 2017, and that bookings 3rd December 2016 and 31st January 2017 have been suspended.
With aircraft deliveries slowing from Airbus, the planned Boeing 777-200LR is not avalible for the service – so expansion will have to wait for a while for Qatar Airways.
Which will no doubt irk His Excellency Akbar Al Baker.
Other routes on the Qatar Airways network have taken cuts whilst Airbus tries to deliver the aircraft Qatar Airways needs.
But for now – Doha to Auckland will have to wait.
Editors note: Fine. I’ll write about stuff that’s happing in 2017 now. I was hoping to wait until July… but ho-hum
