British Airways are planning to take two of their Middle Eastern routes that were previously operated as “one-stop” services to direct flights.
Both Doha and Muscat will be converted to direct operations.

Currently Doha is served as a “tag on” from Bahrain, whilst Muscat is served via Abu Dhabi.
The plans call for the Doha service to converted to a daily operation operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (featuring the new 8 seat first class cabin), and the Muscat service to be operated five times a week with a Boeing 777-200.
It’ll save time as well, as the direct flights will cut around 2 hours off each way instead of the one-stop flights.
And it’s needed for British Airways. The airline competed with Oman Air to Muscat – who operate a twice daily service, and Qatar Airways who sends a number of planes of varying different types from its home base.
To promoted the direct services, British Airways has launched a flash sale too for the start of these direct services, with all four destinations (Bahrain, Muscat, Doha and Abu Dhabi) starting at £349 in World Traveller Class (economy class) and £599 in World Traveller Plus (premium economy class).
Tickets must be purchased by 17th May 2016, for travel between 30th October and 8th December 2016 and 9th January and March 21, 2017.
There’s always a sense of nostalgia with one-stop flights. But direct flights make life so much easier, and make connections more viable.
