It seems the French ATC Unions are really playing hardball – with yet another Air Traffic Controller unions strike in progress.
Approaching Paris at near Paris Orly – Image, Economy Class and Beyond
The Unions timing for this strike is pretty perfect as France hosts the UEFA European Championship Football tournament this month – piling on the pressure to the French government to change its stance.
However, as a result – passengers may be left in the lurch.
A quick rundown on how airlines are reacting:
- Air France has its own problems with a strike affecting services
- British Airways notes possible cancellations
- EasyJet will attempt to run a normal service
- FlyBe notes possible cancellations
- Ryanair has a list of cancelled flights
So far, this is the 10th strike to hit in 12 weeks, and the 50th strike since 2009 by French ATC unions.
And strikes like these – whilst not causing physical harm – can harm the image of a country providing reliable services to or through it.
Although with the amount of strikes in France at the moment, this could be filed as “just another issue”.
As usual, check with your airline before you fly.

Strikes are never good but in a way I’m a little glad to see it’s the French again and not the Germans. The world makes sense again.
