KLM last year asked a question to its Twitter followers:
“Should we colour orange next year on King’s Day? #OrangeExperience”
Well, it seemed the public have spoken – and with 30,000 likes and 2,500 positive, KLM revealed and rolled out a Boeing 777-300ER – painted in Orange, combining it with the national colours of the Nederlands and traditional KLM Blue.

The plane was revealed online last night – and it looks good for an orange plane!

A video of the roll-out was broadcast online.
KLM plans to deploy the orange Boeing 777 on routine network flights. The airline will also deploy it (whenever possible) when there are events that promote the Netherlands.
One of the main missions this plane will have over the summer will be operating the homeward journey from Rio de Janeiro – Amsterdam route during the Olympic Games.
It’s interesting how airlines react to social media and how some airlines use to their advantage. KLM’s use of social media for the whole journey is one of the most interesting going – and they’re learning to utilise that social media power to deliver a product that customers and fans have asked for.
Now all they have to do is convert those fans into paying customers to fly on their planes.
