Malaysia Airlines is still rebuilding itself after going through various changes this year. However, it does have its future on its mind – with the order of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The order itself is for 25 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes, with purchase rights for 25 additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 737 MAX 9 aircraft.
The brings an order in of up to 50 aircraft if all purchase rights are exercised.
Malaysia Airlines has been operating the Boeing 737 for some years, operating a lot of the classic variants (including the -100, 200, 300F, 400, 500) as well as the 737-800.
The airline currently operates 56 Boeing 737-800 used for regional and medium haul traffic.
With the 737 MAX 8, Malaysia Airlines are looking at economics – both with the lower costs of operating a new plane – and the fact you can squeeze more seats on them. The planes are due to be fitted with 180 seats – 20 more seats than the 737-800s currently being operated.
For now, Malaysia Airlines will continue to operate its fleet and continue its long road to recovery and growth.
