For those who live in London, the East of London or work in the City, London City Airport remains vital in the list of connections in and out of the city.
British Airways from the end of October will be increasing its links to Germany, with a frequency increase to Düsseldorf, and an equipment change to Hamburg.
Let’s look at Hamburg first, which will switch from a Saab 2000 turboprop to a BA CityFlyer Embraer 170

Meanwhile Düsseldorf will gain an extra flight pair a day – bringing total operations to four times a day.
The net effect of these changes will mean a 33% increase seat count between the UK and Germany from London City Airport.
BA CityFlyer (the part of British Airways that operates from London City Airport) will operate a total of 85 flights a week from the Docklands to Germany. This includes the recently launched service to Berlin Tegel.
Lead-in prices from London City start at £80 to Hamburg and £59 to Düsseldorf each way on a basic fare basis (excludes seat assignment at booking, luggage, etc).
Add £10-£15 if you want these added in when you book.
London City Airports operation are driven by one thing alone: Business traffic, and the demands of the Docklands and City of London.
It seems British Airways has found extra demand in these times, and is filling that demand. The trick for British Airways will be to sustain that demand and grow on it.
Therein is the real challenge.
