Good afternoon from the Admirals Club at Chicago O’Hare T3, where I’ve had a wonderful experience of the US screening system.
Again.
I suppose it could be summed up in a tweet and 2 pictures (Shot about 15:30 local time).
Umm. @TSA @AskTSA who's responsible for this mess at @fly2ohare please? (Terminal 3) pic.twitter.com/tyfevbLHWf

Rather crappy I’d think you agree. Even the elite lines were overloaded… which for around 15:30 in the afternoon is nothing short of embarrassing.
Non-Priority Queue
30 minute waits – I’ve encountered them more often than not in the USA (in particular – Boston Logan Terminal E that has the cleverness to open two screening queues for its night-time bank of flights.
But at O’Hare? I expect better.
It seems I hate the wait is still a thing sadly, with the focus of the travel and press industries off now the summer holidays have been and gone.
Although as we head towards the US Thanksgiving Holiday, I’m sure this will flare up again.
In a response @AskTSA responded to my query:
@EconomyBeyond We're sorry for the delay. While our focus is on strong security, we're working to reduce wait times as much as possible.

A full statement has been requested, but has not been forthcoming at the time of this article going to press.
How can you get round this as a mere mortal?
For US Residents, Pre-Check is your friend. For non-US Residents and you can give Global Entry, this will help you.
However for the rest of us mere mortals… bring something to read whilst waiting, and arrive in plenty of time for your flight.
Or the US Government could invest in the security service, get more people in, do predictive planning, know its passenger list (which it should do from the amount of data harvested).
But we all know this is pie in the sky.
Why make passengers lives easy when you can collect fees and put on the bare minimums?
