It’s Sunday again, so it must time for some more airplane art.
This week in the falling light of an autumn evening, we have an American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-80 on final approach to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, completing another domestic journey.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 has been a workhorse of American Airlines since it’s order in 1982, serving the airlines domestic destinations.
However, time moves on, with the MD-80 fleet being replaced slowly, with final withdrawal scheduled for 2018.
Still, plenty of time to fly around in these T-tailed planes.
I’ve flown them up front – and they are reviewed here and here.
They’re enjoyable planes to flying in the front of the plane. In the back… umm… lets say the American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-80 are a bit noisy to say the least.

If you were a true avgeek, the back of an MD-80 was THE place to be!
