It’s been mooted about for some time, but it appears Singapore Airlines are to offer a one-stop service from Singapore to Houston via Manchester in the United Kingdom.

Singapore Airlines will be deploying an Airbus A350-900 to operate the one-stop route between Singapore and Houston via Manchester, and will operate it five days a week.
The route commences 17th January 2017.
The timetable looks as below:
SQ052 DEPART SIN 02:15 ARRIVE MAN 0840 DEPART 1010 ARRIVE IAH 14:30 SQ051 DEPART IAH 18:50 ARRIVE MAN 0940+1 DEPART 1110+1 ARRIVE SIN 07:55+2 Commences: 17th January 2017 SQ52/SQ51 operates Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from departure points Booked Equipment: Airbus A350-900 Data: Airlineroute
The Airbus A350-900 will replace the existing Boeing 777-300ER that is used between Singapore and Manchester.
Whilst this will mean the loss of First Class, it does mean the latest generation products are coming to Manchester for this long route.
Singapore Airlines configure their Airbus A350-900s in a three class configuration:
- 42 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 formation
- 24 Premium Economy Class seats in a 2-4-2 formation
- 187 Economy Class Seats in a 3-3-3 formation
With the change being on the cards for some time – if you’re heading to Houston from Singapore (or vice versa), you probably should check your reservation to ensure you’re fine to transit through the United Kingdom.
On the plus side, it adds a brand new route from Manchester in the north of the United Kingdom to the United States of America.
With connectivity the name of the game and a new product – it will be interesting to see how this service performs in the long-term going via Manchester.

Hate to be the downer, but they’ve been flying IAH-MAN-SIN for some time now…just flew both directions last month. The change is from 77W to A350.

How did you like it Jason as compared to flying via Moscow?
Jason says
IAH-MAN was the most empty flight I have been on in about 10 years…probably 1/3 full. Rest of the legs were pretty full.
The WB flight was really good for jetlag, aside from the crazy 2:15a departure hour from SIN. They obviously tried to help with the adjustment by serving the first meal shortly after takeoff.
I never flew the route via DME, but overall, I enjoyed the timing and lengths of the flights, no complaints either way.
