… Widerøe!
Widerøe will launch the updated Embraer E-Jet – the E190-E2 in the first half of 2018.
This will be the first member of the new series of the E-Jet family – the E2 family.
Widerøe has a firm order for three E190-E2 aircraft, with options for twelve more E2 Family series E-jets. The airline will configure their E190-E2 with 114 seats.
The E2 series is made up of new versions of:
- E-175-E2, capable of seating up to 90 passengers in a single class configuration
- E-190-E2, capable of seating up to 114 passengers in a single class configuration
- E-195-E2, capable of seating up to 144 passengers in a single class configuration
The first of the E2 series – The E190-E2 took to the skies last year, and has been progressing towards certification.
John Slattery, President & CEO, Embraer commercial Aviation states
“The market is keen to know the identity of the E190-E2 launch operator, and we’re pleased to end that suspense on this Valentine’s Day – Widerøe is the ‘perfect match’. The airline has a special place in our hearts; Widerøe are proven pioneers in their field who have achieved major success and still remain hugely ambitious, similar in many ways to the path taken by Embraer”
Orders are stacking up for Embraer, with 275 firm orders, along with letters of intent, options and purchase rights for another 415 aircraft.
The trick as most air-framers know is to convert those 415 promises into firm orders.
I make no secret that if I’m flying regional aircraft, I’ve made a bee-line to Embraer aircraft – be it E-145s (yes, I like them and there are good reasons) or towards the larger s E-170s, E-175s, E-190s and E-195s as I find them a much more comfortable place to be when going short distances.
As for the Embraer E2 series – I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully further improvements to the passenger experience aboard these planes.
