It seems American Airline are to follow some of its peer with the airline planning to re-introduce free meals in Main Cabin (economy class) aboard selected Coast-to-Coast routes.
The free meals will be served on the following routes:
- Between San Francisco and New York
- Between Los Angeles and New York
These services are operated by the special configured Airbus A321T – the Three-Class A321’s used for transcontinental services.
Depending on the time of day will depend on what you get. So there’s are a couple of breakfast offerings, sandwich wraps, vegetarian options and a fruit and cheese plate.

With airlines cutting back so hard over the years and removing catering, it’s a welcome sign that American Airlines is re-introducing some sort of catering for all classes aboard some of its premier services.
In terms of service, this should be an easy one as it’s a boxed meal service – dish out, collect the empties.
And with Delta introducing food too – there are options returning for some of the premium services in all classes of services.
That’s no bad thing at all.
Free food starts in on these services in Main Cabin from 1st May 2017. Until then, you’ll need to avail yourself of the buy-on-board menu….
