Who else knows the way to San Jose (Costa Rica)? KLM do!

20/04/2017 by Kevincm

It seems another airline finding its way to San Jose – this time in Costa Rica, with KLM to add the city to its network

KLM will offer a direct service twice a week between Amsterdam Schipol and San Jose (Costa Rica) for the winter season from the 31st October 2017.

The planned timetable is as follows:

DEPART AMS 15:25 ARRIVE SJO 20:05 Tuesdays and Friday
DEPART SJO 22:05 ARRIVE AMS 15:10+1  Tuesdays and Fridays

Booking opens 21st April 2017
Commences 31st October 2017
Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Outside the two flight a week operation, a 1-stop code share flight via Panama will operate in conujution with Copa Airlines (who will codeshare with KLM). KLM will operate to Panama, with Copa Airlines/KLM codeshare between Panama and San Jose

KLM will be utlising a Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route, configured with

  • 30 seats in World Business Class,
  • 45 seats in Economy Comfort
  • 219 seats in economy Class
  • Total: 294 seats

There seems to be a lot of happiness about this route from both KLM and the President of Costa Rica. KLM’s Pieter Elbers (CEO) states:

KLM currently brings many passengers to Costa Rica via Panama. The increasing interest of the European market in this beautiful country convinced us to start a direct flight to San José

Meanwhile the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís states

This new flight, not only will facilitate visits to our country, but also thanks to KLM´s global network, this route will serve as a liaison for Costa Rica to open its doors to tourists from all Europe. This will for sure strengthen tourism in our country, generating benefits to the more than 600,000 persons who work in this activity in direct and indirect manner, and to the communities that find in tourism their opportunity to grow

The flights are timed so connections can be made across the KLM Network to Amsterdam with ease, whilst connecting with the evening bank of flights to European countries.

This will be a nice winter sun destination for those who need to escape the drab European winters full of snow, wind and rain.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (21st April) for sale during the winter season.
