It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more airplane art.
This week – taxing around its home base of Frankfurt Airport at is prepares to depart on a long haul journey is a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i.
Lufthansa operates a fleet of 19 Boeing 747-8i aircraft (the latest iteration of the Boeing 747 family), with 17 painted in normal Lufthansa house colours. One is painted in a retro livery, and one is painted celebrating the German Football Team.
The Boeing 747-8i operate on Lufthansa’s long haul routes where more capacity than an A330/A340 is needed, but an Airbus A380 is too large (or where there is not gate space for the type).
Lufthansa also operates the older Boeing 747-400 aircraft in its long haul fleet, as well as Airbus A330s, A340s, A350s (out of Munich) and the Airbus A380.
More Airplane Art next week!
