So day two of the Paris Air Show 2017 has concluded, and once again – it seems Boeing is stealing the march on orders.
Let’s dive straight in with the orders, confirmations and letters of intent.
Boeing
Continuing their successful orders from yesterday, Boeing racked up some more orders and conversions of its 737 MAX 10 aircraft.
Commercial Orders
- Okay Airlines of China have signed for eight Boeing 737 MAX 10s and seven 737 MAX 8s. The airline also signed a MoU for five 787-9 Dreamliners

- Blue Air of Romania are signing for six 737 MAX aircraft – and are to lease six 737 MAXs and six Next-Generation 737-800s from Air Lease Corporation.

- Ryanair of Ireland is adding an extra 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 200s to its fleet, taking the order book to 110 Boeing 737 MAX 8 200, and options for another 100.

- Azerbaijan Airlines announced a commitment for four Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.

- United Airlines is going in big with the Boeing 737 MAX 10, converting 100 of MAX order into 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. In addition, the airline is picking up another four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft too.

Freighters
- Ethiopian Airlines to take order two Boeing 777F aircraft
Lessors
- Aviation Capital Group (lessor) is to order 20 737 MAX 10 aircraft to lease out.
- Avolon (lessor) has signed a MoU for 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with purchase options for another 50 737 MAX aircraft on top
- China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) today announced an order for 50 737 MAX airplanes with 15 of them being 737 MAX 10 aircraft.
- Japan Investment Adviserare signing up for a commitment to purchase 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
So Boeing are racing ahead this year with the new launch of its 737 MAX 10.
Let’s turn to Airbus, and see what orders they’ve collected today:
Airbus
Commercial Airlines
- Ethiopian Airlines are signing for 10 more Airbus A350-900 aircraft for its long haul fleet

- Delta have signed for an extra 10 Airbus A321ceo aircraft, based on the previous incremental order for 30 extra A321ceo aircraft

- Viva Air of Peru and Columbia have signed a MoU with Airbus for 50 A320 Family aircraft, comprising 35 A320neo and 15 A320ceo.
Lessors
- CDB Aviation Lease Finance DAC (CDB Aviation) of Dublin have signed a MoU for 45 aircraft, consisting of 30 A320neos made up of 15 A321neos. 15 held orders will be converted into Airbus A321s too.
Bombardier
Bombardier have been working away quietly at this show – but has seemed to score some big orders today
- Ethiopian Airlines (who seems to be one of the bigger buyers today, going from chalet to chalet signing deals) have been revealed as buyer for five Q400 Turboprop aircraft

- SpiceJet of India has signed a letter of intent for up to 50 aircraft – 25 as a firm order, 25 as options. SpiceJet operate 20 of the type currently.

Embraer
Embraer are playing secret-squirrel with their orders, with the announcement of two orders from two undisclosed customers.
- A firm order for of ten E195-E2’s, with an additional ten purchase rights for the E190-E2.
- A Letter of Intent with an undisclosed customer to purchase 20 E190-E2’s
However, there are some disclosed orders
- Fuji Dream Airlines are to sign for three EmbraerE175s, as well purchase rights on three more.
- Japan Airlines is to add to its fleet with an extra Embraer 190 for J-Air
- KLM are to add two more Embraer E190s to its CityHopper fleet
- Belavia of Belarus is to add one Embraer E175 and one E190.
ATR
Finally, we turn our attention to ATR who have another order – from startup Air Senegal SA for two ATR 72-600s
So another busy day at Le Bourget, with Boeing taking the lions share of orders. But there are still two more days of this jamboree to go before it is turned over to the public
And I haven’t even talked about one of the bigger stories of the day – the next plane from Boeing that will address the middle of the market segment.
