One of the up and coming seats I’ve been keeping an eye on is the series of seats manufactured by Lift by EnCore.
Well it seems there is fruit from launching the seat last year at Aircraft Interiors Expo – with SpiceJet of India to furnish their new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with the Lift by Encore Tourist Class seat.

The tourist class seats are designed for use aboard the Boeing 737 in a 3-3 formation. LIFT used ergonomic data to model its seat to develop its product – resulting in the design above, and focusing on the magic 17.9″ seat width.
The seat features a light weight design, that can be fitted with a variety options on the back of it, including a literature pocket, a Personal Electronic Device holder or a full IFE system.
SpiceJet have orders for up to 225 aircraft from Boeing, with plans to line-fit the seats
Mr. Ajay Singh, CMD for SpiceJet states:
“We are going to ensure that our customers have the most comfortable seats to sit on when they fly SpiceJet. The seats that we have ordered today are the widest, with the most legroom.”
Elijah Dobrusin, LIFT’s Vice President of Development & Strategy states:
“We look forward to providing LIFT Tourist Class Seating for SpiceJet’s customers.”This program is currently in early development, and entry into service is planned for late 2018. LIFT is collaborating with Boeing to provide seats that are optimized spatially, structurally and aesthetically for the Boeing Sky Interior”
For Lift by EnCore, it’s another step – taking their concept seat and putting it to market. Hopefully, this translates into a comfortable seat that can be enjoyed by both passengers when flying the plane, and airlines who can benefit from lower weight seats that reduce the long term cost of flying them in the sky.
